CardiacTamponade in the Myelogenous Blastic Crisis of Chronic Leukemia
نویسنده
چکیده
A S6-year-old man with Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) developed hemorrhagic pericarditis with tampbnade as a terminal manifestation of the blastic risis. Cftrdiac tamponade should be kept in mind as an uncommon cause of death of CML patients. Based on a literature review, Symptornatic pericarditis in patients with CML blast crisis suggests imminent death. This is in contrast to long-term suryiyal for patients in the chronic phase.

Function of Neutrophils in Different Phases of Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia
In chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), the mature granulocytes originate from a stem cell line harboring an abnormal chromosome, therefore it is possible that metabolic-functional abnormalities occur in the morphologically mature cells. In the present study, the phagocytic activity including intracellular killing, nitro blue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction, and phagocytosis were studied in 37 CML p...
متن کاملLife threatening hypophosphataemia in a patient with Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myelogenous leukaemia in acute blastic crisis.
Life-threatening hypophosphataemia developed in a 47 year old woman with blastic crisis of chronic myelogenous leukaemia. The patient's hospitalization was characterized by reciprocal relationship between her white cell count and the serum phosphorus levels. The patient did not demonstrate any of the usual causes of profound hypophosphataemia. The postulated mechanism of this patient's hypophos...

Background: Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative disorder due to BCR-ABL1 translocation. Patients showing transformation into blast crisis (BC) have poorer treatment response and prognosis. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in the department of Pathology, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, India, over a time period of 5 years (2014-2019) to evaluate the ...
متن کاملSelective sensitivity of chronic myelogenous leukemia cell populations to alkyl-lysophospholipids.
In order to evaluate the specificity of alkyl-lysophospholipid-induced cell destruction, peripheral blood leukocytes from chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) patients in chronic phase of the disease as well as in blastic crisis have been separated by density centrifugation. These subpopulations, enriched for the different maturation stages, were tested for their sensitivity to alkyl-lysophosphol...

We tested a population of over 60 patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) for changes in the structure and expression of the p53 gene, which is located on chromosome 17. Six of 27 (22%) blast crisis samples and 3 of 5 (60%) accelerated phase samples had rearrangements of chromosome 17, whereas only 3 of 42 (7%) chronic phase patients had cytogenetic changes in chromosome 17. There was ...
